There are a number of technical faults which has affected the services of Eurostar trains in the past. Out of all the accidents that took place, there was a major accident in 2000. Certain events also turned up to be public-relations disaster. Many a times the ability of the train services were questioned upon but ultimately, barring all the controversies the Eurostar has lived up to everyone’s expectations.

In 1994, there were technical snags related to the start of operations and there was a delay of 2 hours and the train had 400 passengers who were the members of the media and press.
In 1996, as many as 1000 passengers were left in the dark for a few hours inside two Eutostar trains. This mishappening took place because the train halted inside the tunnels due to electronic failures caused by the snowfall.
In 2000, a major accident happened due to the derailment of the Eurostar train from Paris to London on the LGV Nord and the train was at the speed of 180 mph. There were no major injuries and there were a few minor injuries. The Eurostar had to bear a hefty loss.
In 2008, a major fire broke out in the Channel Tunnel.
