Who doesn’t want to have a glance at the classical French piece of art? There is a different touch given to them and looks so stunning to the eyes and such piece of art, if, housed less than one roof is surely a bonus to the fanatics of art. Famous for its vast collection of impressionist and post-impressionist art pieces, The Musée d’Orsay, a museum situated in Paris is one such place. The Musee d’Orsay, situated on the left bank of the river Seine, houses famous French art from the period of 1848 to 1915 which not only include paintings but also include photography, furniture’s, sculptures. The museum has masterpiece works of great artists like Monet, Renoir, Seurat, Van Gogh, Manet, Degas, Gauguin and Sisley.

Interestingly, this grand museum was once a railway station Gare d’Orsay, until 1939 and was designed by Victor Laloux, Lucien Magne and Émile Bénard. The station closed after realizing that the size of the train was too large for the small platforms there.

But later in 1977, it was decided by the Government of France to convert the railway station into a museum for public visit and the plan undoubtedly turned out to be a successful one as it has become a site of tourist attraction in the city of Paris. 20,000 sq. m. of new floor space was created on four floors of the museum. The museum came into opening in December 1986.

At the museum there are three levels to display the exhibits. The 19th century work can be found at the ground floor. Art Nouveau decorative sculptures and paintings from the later part of 19th century to the early phase of 20th century is found at the middle level and the upper level houses the great collection of impressionists and neo-impressionists.

Eurostar provides its passengers Train to Paris from its base stations. Paris is also included in the Eurostar City Breaks which make traveling in Paris more easier and cheaper for the tourists.
