Central Marseille is the centre for many art and culture institutions. You will find many museums and galleries in Central Marseille. Besides museums, there are also many buildings in the street that dated back to the 12th -17th centuries. As a city center, many shopping centers can be found there as well. If you want to visit the tourist attractions, you should visit 1st arrondissement, 2nd arrondissement, and 7th arrondissement. There are several notable tourist attractions in Central Marseille including Vieux Port, Palais Longchamp, Musee Cantini, and Notre Dame de la Garde.

Vieux Port is the main harbor in the city. Nearby Vieux Port, there are two large forts including Fort St. Nicholas and Fort Saint Jean. At Vieux Port, you will find many restaurants and cafes. Around the Vieux Port, there are a number of important places including St. Victor’s Abbey, Phare de Sainte Marie lighthouse and Canebiere.

Palais Longchamp is located at the east of Boulevard Longchamp area. At Palais Longchamp, you will find plenty of museums. It was built during the 1862 by Esperandieu. The building came to completion on 1869. On the right side of Palais Longchamp, there is a natural history museum called Musee d’Histoire Naturelle. The zoological garden s located behind Palais Longchamp.  Musee des Beaux Arts is located on the left side of Palais Longchamp. In Musee des Beaux Arts, there are a number of paintings that dates back to the 16th and 17th centuries. Some of the paintings exhibited in Musee des Beaux Arts are Perugino, Puget, Mignard and etc. Many modern sculptures are presented in the museum.

Musee Cantini offers a large collection of old porcelains, and applied arts. The applied arts displayed at the museum dates back to the 20th century. The museum is situated at rue de Grignan 19.

Notre Dame de la Garde is a famous limestone hill located in the south of Marseille. It used to be a relay station for giving smoke signals in the 15th century. Notre Dame de la Garde was constructed on the site of a medieval pilgrimage chapel. The height of Notre Dame de la Garde is 154 m.
